How To Boost Your Survey Response Rates

Survey says...

Learning more about your prospects/customers will give you the right data as to how you should be serving them and what you can do to satisfy them in the best possible way. Even though there are many ways to analyze and understand what your target audience really wants, the most effective approach to it is to simply ask them. That’s right, by running targeted surveys with a specific aim and purpose, you will be able to grasp what’s going on in the minds of your target audience, something that puts you in their shoes. By applying the following strategies, you’ll be able to gather lots of useful data which will enhance your survey response rates.

When you send out a survey invitation keep in mind that not everybody will respond back the very first time they see your invitation, and there are times when your survey won’t get opened up in the first place. Keeping this in mind, it’s always a good idea to send out at least one follow-up email to anyone who hasn’t responded to your first request. You don’t, however, want to email people constantly about your survey, as no one wants to be spammed on any topic.

The best approach is to only remind people once or twice if they don’t respond to your first request. The most effective surveys are concise and not any longer than they have to be. If a survey takes people a long time to complete, it will tend to bore or frustrate readers. You can’t expect people to devote a long period of time to completing your survey, so don’t make it long or challenging.

So in short, you need to create a strong balance so that even your short survey fulfills the purpose and gives you the insight you’re looking for. In general, the simpler your survey is, the better your response rate will be.

Aside from the questions you ask in your survey, provide an area where readers can comment as well. You never know what might be on someone’s mind, so it’s a good idea to allow for comments. After the main part of the survey, simply invite people to write in any additional comments. This section makes the survey more customized to everyone who takes it, as you’re giving everyone a chance to contribute their unique comments.

It doesn’t matter what kind of product you’re selling online, or what kind of aims you have for your web business; unless and until you listen to your prospects/customers, you won’t be able to accelerate your growth and move in the right direction. A survey is a way to show your customers that you are really interested in what they think and what they prefer. In short, finding success with creating and launching effective surveys online is all about taking that first basic step forward and then gaining knowledge on how to boost your survey response rates.
