Renting A Mailing List-Things You Should Know

Painting by Annika Ström: Please remove me fro...

Every single Internet Marketer understands that the true money comes from the list and that having access to a targeted list of email subscribers is worth its weight in gold when used correctly. Obviously, however, one of the hardest things to over come when you want to build your own email list is time; it can take months and months or even years to fully nurture and build an email list before it gives you the results you want to see. But what if you need that process to go faster? You go out there and rent one! It’s the truth; the simplest solution for your list building issues is renting a mailing list that someone else owns–a practice that has been going around for a super long time. Here are a few things to keep in mind before you rent an email list for your own online business…

Use Reputable List Vendors

The worst thing that can happen when you rent a list is that your efforts backfire and you are accused of spamming. If that happens you may have a headache on your hand that you will have to fight through. In order to avoid all this, try to go for reputable/brand-name lists where you’ll be sure of the quality you get. Even though this isn’t always possible, you should at least aim to go for a list that you know comes from someone who has a reputation. It is a good idea to do a background check to see if you can actually visit the website of the company renting their list to you.

Use A Fresh List

Keep in mind that you will get a better response from a list that is recent and has fresh names on it. So when you buy or rent a list why not take the time to make sure that it is active and fresh? After all, once you’ve spent money on a list, you don’t want the response to be cold do you? The more responses you get from your list, the better it is going to be. So inquiring about the freshness aspect of the list is important and should not be ignored.

Find The Demographics Of The List

Finally, ask the owner of the list to disclose the breakeven point. This is because you want to know what you are getting yourself into. When you get the list in your hands, you will not be able to make any changes. Research specific demographics about the list before you hand over any money. Conducting tests with a list that has over one thousand names will give you a way to gauge what may happen in the future. Only the list owner can provide this info. But, still, you should take it with a pinch of salt. Don’t completely depend on the metrics that are supplied to you. Instead, just utilize this information as a way to gauge the potential profitablity of the mailing list.

You need to remember that renting an email list is not all you have to do as an Internet Marketer, you also need to actually create a good offer to send to the list you rent if you want to make anything from it. So yes, renting a mailing list can be a fantastic idea but only if you understand how to use it properly. If you are new to the whole email marketing game then get familiar with it first, get your hands dirty and then proceed to put in the money to rent a list.
