Growing Your Blog’s RSS Subscribers

Feed Icon swap

A successful blog is usually the product of a number of factors that should also include finding ways to increase the number of RSS subscribers you have. When you can entice people to subscribe to your RSS feed, you have the benefit of getting them back to visit your blog regularly. The purpose of this article is to give you clear cut tips on growing your blog’s RSS subscribers in a unique way.

Release Sequential Posts

Those people who visit blogs tend to do so in order to access information and knowledge they know they can’t access on other blogs or sites. It doesn’t matter what kind of niche you’re targeting with your blog, if you want your readers to subscribe to your RSS feed, you need to give them something that can solve their immediate problem, or something that would make them want to stay updated.

If you’ve been in the blogosphere for a while now, you should know how some of the most popular blogs out there start a ‘series’ from time to time, where they create a series of related posts that are linked to each other. This is an excellent way to show your readers that you have plenty of information to offer, but they need to come back to read what else you have to say.

When you create follow-on posts that go into the topic matter, readers will look forward to the next one you release. If you can that do successfully, then guess what? People will join up to your RSS feed to learn when your next post is released.

Correct RSS Feed Icon Placement

The placement of your RSS icon needs to be considered carefully so readers will see it right away. You don’t want your readers to have to scroll down your page in order to find your icon, so place it somewhere above the fold. The object is to make it easy for your visitors to see it and then subscribe, so make sure it’s clear.

It’s also wise to ensure you have your feed icon showing on all pages within your blog in that same location. If you put the feed icon in the sidebar, readers will then be able to find it no matter which page they end up on.

Customize Your Subscription Page

If you have a page just for your subscription box, use this page wisely. Your subscription page can be a great place to highlight any feedback you have from other readers. People will feel far more confident about subscribing when they can see comments from other readers. If you don’t have this kind of feedback yet, send a quick email to your subscribers and ask for comments.

Check back through your older posts for any positive feedback readers have left, or write a new blog post asking readers to leave feedback that can then be used on your subscription page.

The beginning stages of your blog and audience development are always going to be a challenge and that’s why you need to work to gain repeat visitors so that your traffic stays balanced. Once you get the hang of growing your blog’s RSS subscribers, an increase in sales is around the corner.
